gergely Great tournament!
A few suggestions for future improvements:
First round it’d be easy to make sure that people from the same city don’t have to play against each other. Specifically: I think there were 7 people from The Unboostables, you could simply put them in a stack and pick their opponents from the remaining sheets.
If some people do not play in the first round and some drop out in the last round, the results calculated by straight SoS get really, really wacky. In this case, the “Large Event Scoring” should be used (SR 2013, p.9.) calculating win percentages instead of absolute win counts.
I don’t think the “Finals Tables” variant was used as described in the Steamroller doc (p.9.). The loser on the second table should _not_ get a guaranteed fourth place. Instead his placement should be calculated normally. Specifically the person had fewer wins that day (2) than other players who placed lower. This, I think should never happen.
Next time, I’d be happy to bring more objective and zone markers, just let me know. Showing the table numbers is also easy and helps a bit when finding the next game.
I *loved* that the tables were actually 48”x48”. This is such a rare occurence! :) The sandwiches and snacks were a great idea.
There were some beautiful armies and the trophies were awesome!
The most amazing thing to me was that to my knowledge, this was the first 50 points tournament in Switzerland and proof that the Swiss meta is mature enough to have a one day, 16 man tournament at this size.
I’m looking forward to more events in Bern by Domi! It’s great to see players gathering from all corners of the country. |
