Swiss Open 4 - Information and Rules

Draft Rulepack for SO 2013

1. Rules changes:
• 2 characters per unit (owner's choice) will get "look out sir" versus the following spells that automatically kill models or automatically remove an entire regiment: Dwellers Below, Final Transmutation, Dreaded 13th. Normal requirements for lookout sir apply.
• All BSBs can take all the equipment, their unit type has access to as if they weren't BSBs. Wood elf BSB can take kindreds and do not lose their longbow.

2. Army building restrictions

General Restrictions:
• All the Army building restrictions are applied during the creation of the roster - limits may be ignored during the game (for example - by joining characters to the unit to increase its point costs, creating new units, or resurrecting fallen warriors)
• The armies allowed are those from any of the currently published GW Army books and Chaos Dwarves' The Legion of Azgorh from Tamurkhan: The Throne of Chaos. Any other Forge World based army lists or units may not be used on the event.
• Special or Named Characters are not allowed
• Folding Fortress is not allowed
• Units cannot be more than 60 models nor 450 points (including all command, upgrades, magic items/banners). This restriction does not apply to characters.

2. Army building restrictions

General Restrictions:

Magic Restrictions:
• An army may use up to maximum 12 power dice during each magic phase
• A player can never use more than 5 power dice to cast a spell, no matter the source. For the Lore of Death and Shadow, this is lowered to 4 power dice.
• Apart from Winds of Magic, an army may only generate 2 Power or Dispel Dice per magic phase. After an army generates the limit all the other extra dice are discarded and lost. This includes channeled dice.


Race specific army composition:
• All army sizes are 2500 pt, except when specifically stated in brackets.

- Bretonnia
• No restrictions.

- Beastmen (2800)
• Maximum unit point cost is increased to 550
• Points achieved against Beastmen (excluding bonus for Underdog Challenge, Banners, BSB and General) are decreased by 10%
• Monsters cost 100 points less each one

- Chaos Dwarfs
• K'daai Destroyer/War Machines/Hellcannon (0-1)/Daemon Engines, max 4
• Chalice of Darkness (count as 2)/Dispel scroll/Death magic present, max 2

- Dark Elves
• Models armed with shooting weapons, except ones with handbow and Warhydras (Bolt Throwers count as 5 each and new chariots with bolt Thrower count as 3), max 55.
• Fast cavalry (including Characters)/flying units, max 7
• Units of Doomfire Warlocks (max 10 models per units)/supreme sorcerer with lore of Death, max 2

- Daemons of Chaos
• max. 10 models of Plague Drones and Beasts of Nurgle per Army, max 8 Beasts of Nurgle and max 4 beast of nurgle per units.
• The Rock of Inevitability cannot be chosen.
• Beasts of Nurgle present in the army/Skullcannon/Nurgle BSB, max 2

- Dwarfs
• Can generate up to 4 Dispel Dice per phase instead of 2
• Quarrelers/Thunderers, max 45 models
• Anvil/Grudge Thrower/Cannon/Organ Gun/2nd Bolt Thrower, max 4
• Spelleater Rune/Spellbreaking Rune/Master Rune of Balance, max 2

- Empire
• Models with strength 4 shooting weapons, max 60
• Steam Tank/Crown of Command, max 1
• Each 3 (or fraction) Demigryph models after the first 3 models/Hellblaster Volleygun/Great Cannon/Seam Tank (counts as 2)/3rd Light Wizard, max 5

- High Elves
• Book of Hoeth/Banner of the World Dragon/Archmage with Lore of Death/2nd Frostheart Phoenix, max 1
• Star Dragon/2nd Frostheart Phoenix, max 1
• Models armed with shooting weapons (Eagle Claw Bolt Throwers count as 5 each), max 70
• Ellyrian Reaver units/Eagle unit, max 4

- Lizardmen
• Becalming Cogitation/Dispel Scroll/Channeling Staff and Harmonic Convergence on the same model/Slann with Lore of Death (not including Wandering Deliberations), max 2
• Skink Skirmisher units, max 3

- Ogre Kingdoms
• Gnoblar units, max 3
• Crown of Command/Ironblaster/Each 8 (or fraction) Mournfang Models, max 2
• Crown of Command/Runemaw/4 or more characters in the army, max 2
• Hellheart/Dispel Scroll, max 1

- Orcs and Goblins (2600)
• Each 2 (or fraction) Fanatics/Each 2 (or fraction) Spear Chukka/Mangler Squig/Rock Lobba, max 7
• Night Goblin Shamans mushroom dice do not count as power dice in regard to the power dice limit.

- Skaven
• Rat Swarm units, Giant Rat units, Warlock Engineers, max 3 each
• Skavenslaves, max 3 units and 120 models
• Warp-Lightning Cannon/Hellpit Abomination (max 1), max 2
• Up to 2 units of Gutter Runners/Storm banner/2nd Doomwheel, max 2
• Doom Rocket/Brass Orb/Power Scroll, max 1

- Tomb Kings (2700)
• Points achieved against Tomb Kings (excluding bonus for Underdog Challenge, Banners, BSB and General) are decreased by 10%
• Models with bow, max 80
• Neferra's Scrolls of Mighty Incantations can't be taken by a High Liche Priest with Lore of Death

- Vampire Counts
• Zombie units, max 3
• Spirit host units/Hexwraith units (max 2)/Ethereal characters (max 2)/Cairn Wraith units, max 3
• Fellbat unit after the first (counts as 2)/Direwolf unit, max 4
• Red Fury on Lord Choice/Death Magic present in the army/More than 8 Crypt Horror models/More than 10 Hexwraith models/More than 120 Zombie models, max 2
• Quickblood on Vampire Lord/Master Necromancer/Terrorgheist (max 1)/2nd Tomb Banshee, max 2
• Mounted characters and black knights combined, max 15.

- Warriors of Chaos
• Core chariots, max 3 and all chariots, max 5.
• Daemon prince/crown of command/BSB on daemonic mount/skullcrusher unit/chimera after the 1st, max 3
• Hellcannon/lore of death in the army/lore of tzeentch in the army, max 2
• Max 1 on the same model: Third eye of Tzeentch/talisman of preservation/armour of destiny
• Max 1 on the same daemonprince: daemon of nurgle/flying

- Wood Elves (2700)
• Glade Guard models (excluding scouts), max 70
• Points achieved against Wood Elves (excluding bonus for Underdog Challenge, Banners, BSB and General) are decreased by 10%
• All elves in the army have ASF (Wild Riders are considered Elves. This does not affect any Elven mount or steed)
• Casters may choose spells from any of the 8 Common Lores
• Forest Spirit's Ward Save is not negated by Magical Attacks


Victory points scored as per the rulebook, with the exceptions that:
- units that are at 25% or less of their original models yield 50% VP's to the opponent (characters, monsters and handlers, war machines and single models are unaffected).
- Fleeing units in the last turn give away full Victory Points;

In both cases, bonuses (for generals, banners, etc.) are not counted towards the 50%. Units that are both: fleeing and at/below ¼ strength still only yiled 100% VP’s not more.

4. Scenarios

All scenarios are Battleline.


5. Line of Sight

Terrain pieces are divided into ones that:
- Block LoS: Hills, Buildings and impassable terrain.
- Don't block LoS: all other terrain.

Unit is considered to be in hard cover when:
- Majority of unit's footprint is obscured from shooter's Line of Sight by one or more Interfering Unit(s) or LOS blocking terrain(s), as described on page 41 BRB
- Unit is garrisoning a Building, as described on page 127 BRB
- Majority of unit's front rank is defending an obstacle, as described on page 122 BRB and ETC FAQ 8.4. If the unit is being shot from the flank or the rear, treat the corresponding file or the last rank, respectively, as the front rank
- Majority of unit's footprint is in Ruins

Unit is considered to be in soft cover when:
- Majority of unit's footprint is in or behind woods, as described on page 119 BRB

Models shooting from hills or buildings don't get the hard cover penalty for shooting through interfering units, unless interfering the unit is also on hill.

Units with majority of its models on hill do not receive hard cover for being shot at through interfering units, unless that part of the units which interferes is also on hill. Units with majority of its models on hill do not receive hard cover for being partially obscured from the shooter's LoS by the same hill they are on

Large Targets can't claim cover for obstacles, ruins and interfering units.

1 Changements de règles:
• Jusqu’à 2 personnages par unités (au choix de leur propriétaires) obtiennent la règle “Attention Messire” contre les sorts suivants qui tuent automatiquement une figurine ou retire un régiment: êtres du dessous, Ultime transmutation, Très redouté 13ème sort. Les conditions normales d’attention messier sont nécessaires.
• Toutes les GB peuvent prendre tout l’équipement accessible auquel elles auraient droit si elles n’étaient pas GB. La GB ES peut prendre un clan et ne pas perdre son arc.

2 Restrictions de constructions d’armées:

Restrictions générales:
• Toutes les restrictions de contructions de l’armée s’appliquent Durant toute la creation de la liste – Des limites peuvent être ignores pendant le jeu (par exemple – un personage rejoint une unite ce qui augmente son nombre de points, créer de nouvelles unites ou ressuciter les guerriers tombés.)
• Les armées sont issues des livres GW ainsi que la Légion d’Azogh de Tamurkan: Le throne du chaos. D’autre armées forgeworld ne sont pas autorisées pour l’événement.
• Personages spéciaux ou només ne sont pas autorisés.
• La forteresse pliable est interdite.
• Les unites ne peuvent pas compter plus de 60 figurines et/ou dépasser 450pts (inclus les EMC, ameliorations, Objets/bannières magiques). Cette restriction ne s’applique pas aux personages.

3 Restrictions de la magie :
• Une armée peut utiliser jusqu’à 12 dés de pouvoir par phase de magie.
• Un joueur ne peut pas utiliser plus de 5 dés de pouvoir pour lancer un sort, qu’importe la source. Pour les domaines de la mort et de l’Ombre, le maximum est à 4.
• En plus des vents de magie, une armée ne peut générer que 2 DP ou DD par phase de magie. Après qu’une armée a atteint la limite, tous les autres dès sont perdu et retiré. Ceci inclus les dès canalisés.

4 Lignes de vue:

Bloquent les lignes de vue: collines, bâtiments, terrains infranchissable.
Ne bloquent pas: unités et tous les autres terrains.

Couverts lourd si: 1) la majorité du socle de l'unité est caché par une autre unité ou par un terrain bloquant les lignes de vue (cf livre de règles page 41)
2) l'unité défend un obstacle
3) l'unité est dans un bâtiment
4) la majorité du socle de l'unité est dans une Ruine

Couvert léger si la majorité du socle de l'unité se trouve dans une forêt.

Les unités en majorité sur une colline n'ont pas de pénalité pour tirer à travers des unités, mais ne reçoivent pas de couvert.

Les Grandes cibles ne reçoivent jamais de couvert d'autres unités, d'obstacles ou de Ruines.
