Nestled at the base of the Carpathian mountains, Sibiu is an excellent location to host as it is a small, but thriving city with an international airport, and an attractive ‘old town’ district with many quality hotels and restaurants within walking distance. The event itself will take place at ATU Toys ATU-TOYS.RO - Wargames, Trading Card Games, Scale Models, Miniatures, itself within a three minute walk from Old Town. At the event, lunch will be provided, as will some drinks and snacks, and there is a good coffee shop and a convenience store a moment’s walk from the event.
It will be a lovely location to bring loved ones to join you for the weekend, to our Saturday Evening social gathering where friends new and old will meet up for dinner, and potentially to stay a few extra days to explore the area; Sibiu has some great sightseeing locations within driving distance, such as Bran Castle near Brasov, the absolutely stunning Trans Fagarasan and Trans Alpina highways (both worth a Google search), or Corvin Castle. Getting there
The event will be hosted at:
ATU Toys
Strada 9 Mai, #10
Sibiu, Romania
Sibiu’s international airport is likely the most convenient location to fly into. It has flights from all over Europe, and some low cost carriers such as Wizz Air (which does not always show up on google flights) as well. Alternatively, the following airports are valid options:
1. Cluj-Napoca: approx 2 hours driving from Sibiu. The drive is mostly good highway driving.
2. Timisoara: approx 3 hours driving from Sibiu. The drive is on a good highway, with the exception of a 15km bypass through village and national roads.
3. Brasov: Approx 2 hours from Sibiu. The drive is 80% on national roads which pass through multiple villages.
4. Bucharest: Approx 4-4:30 hours from Sibiu.
-Via Olt River Valley: 50% of the drive is highway, and 50% is two lane road through the stunning river valley, but the road is slow and it has high traffic density.
- Via Brasov: Approx 2 hours to Brasov (then Brasov to Sibiu), through a slow and high traffic, but again very pretty, River valley.
5. Budapest: Approximately 5 hours of driving total, passing through Timisoara. The road from Budapest to Timisoara is on excellent highways, and there is no longer any passport control at the border.
Getting Around
Bolt and/or Uber are very affordable in Sibiu. The airport is a 10-15 minute ride from Old Town during most of the day, and the cost is typically 3-7 Euro. Once in downtown Sibiu, everything you will need will be well within walking distance; but, if you want to Bolt/Uber, it remains very affordable and convenient.
Car rentals are also generally quite affordable in Romania, particularly when not in the high season (summer) for tourism. We recommend looking at the various options, but we have found that Expedia typically has the best prices. Do note that there is a highway fee (vignette), which is typically covered by the rental companies, but will apply if you bring a vehicle from outside of the country.
The local bus system is clean, efficient, safe, and affordable.
Where to Stay
Sibiu is a tourist destination within Europe, as it was named as a European Capital Of Culture in 2007. As such, it has many quality hotels from which to choose. We will work to find a hotel partner close to the event in order to attempt to get a group discount, but it is not required that you stay there.

Tournament Rules and Regulations
All armies must be fully painted (at least 3 colours) and in a colour style befitting WW2 (ie no Pink Panthers or Warhammer Ultramarine colour schemes). Any miniatures not fully painted will be removed from the table prior to starting the tournament. No proxy models are permitted, players should use the correctly sized vehicles as well as gun and infantry teams. Infantry teams representing different weapon configurations e.g. a Rifle/MG armed infantry platoon may
be used as MG armed infantry platoon as long as platoons are clearly
distinguishable. If in doubt, ask prior to the event.
All Platoons should be clearly distinguishable i.e. your opponent should be able to differentiate the teams of one platoon of the same teams from another.
The event will randomise match ups for round 1 with subsequent rounds
based on score. Players will not play the same player more than once.
We will use Extended Battle Plans and a single dice will be rolled by the TO for each round and this will be the score used for all games based on the player’s stance choice. Print-outs of the Missions will not be provided, please bring your physical copy.
Game Time: Players are responsible for monitoring the time and the Tournament Organisers (TO) will announce time intervals throughout the event. The game should be stopped if both players cannot reasonably be expected to finish a game turn and the results should be calculated as a mutual loss. The exception is that if another turn would automatically cause a formation break at the beginning of the player’s next turn, without any further moving, shooting, or assaulting required (both for attacker or defender), the win will be given to the opposing player.
Tables: Any offers of tables will be greatly appreciated and allow players to show off their own battlefields. If you can supply a table of terrain, please email qtaylorro@gmail.com
Terrain: Players should discuss terrain before they start the game and should agree to definitions (e.g. low-rise vs hill). They should also mutually agree how to position models for ‘hull down’. For simplicity and speed, all tall terrain is to be considered ‘infinitely tall’ i.e. you may not sit in a bell tower and see over a smaller building.
Measuring: All movement of models should be done using a tape measure or measuring stick, in either CM or Inches, to be agreed prior to the first measurement. Once lifted, a model may not be returned to its starting position unless a marker was placed down to mark its original position.
Dice: Each player is to supply their own dice. A player may request to use their opponent’s dice at any point. To avoid confusion over ‘cocked dice’ it is suggested any dice not completely flat on the table (or in a dice tray) are re-rolled. Dice trays must be placed on the table and rolls are to be clearly visible to your opponent.
Slow Play. Slow play will be actively discouraged and may result in a loss of points or forfeited games at the TO’s discretion. If you cannot play a game to completion due to size/complement or familiarity with your army, you might want to revisit your Force choice before list submission.
Rules queries: Sometimes there will be differing interpretations of the rules. Either they are unclear, conflict, or someone has mis-understood some wording. Players should have the latest LFTF and check if the answer is in it or seek to agree a mutually acceptable solution before asking an adjudication, the TO decision is final.
Cheating: We don’t expect there to be any of this. But, if a TO observes or has an issue of cheating raised to them (which is upheld) then the offender will forfeit their current game and score 0 points. Their opponent will be awarded a score of 8 points.
If this is repeated in another game, then they will be asked to leave the event (no refund will be offered). The TO’s decision is final.
Best Painted
Any players that wish their armies to be considered for the Best Painted award should place them on their current table during the lunch break on Sunday. Judging will consider the models in the Force and any Objective markers. No non-Force models should be left on the table.
Unit histories are not required.
The Best Painted award will be chosen by secret ballot voting of all players.
Tournament Awards
Victory points will be used to determine the final placings. In the event of a tie, players will be ranked based on the least number of units lost, then by the most number of opponent’s units destroyed.
The final tie break will be the final ranking of the person they faced
in round 1.
Awards that will be presented include:
• Overall Winner
• 2nd Place
• 3rd Place
• Best Painted
Awards will be symbolic and have little to no monetary value.
Prizes, including BF prize support, will be drawn randomly, with names out of a hat.
