Questions and answers about the Premium system

We added a FAQ category about the topic "Premium Accounts" based on your questions and concerns:

* Why don't you just take 1 Euro per player and tournament?
* Why don't you charge the players?
* We're a gaming club and organizing some tournaments. Do we need multiple Premium accounts?
* What about multiple organizers for one tournament?
* What happens with tournaments which are created before May 16th?
* The website was free to use for years. Why isn't this possible anymore?
* The Premium system can be abused easily. You're dumb?

Important announcement: Big changes ahead

On 16th May 2013 T³ will become officially 9(!) years old. Time for a brief look into the past, the present and most important the future...

Starting as a small, simple script for the sign ups of the first bigger tournament in Brunswick (Germany), the system was given to the public in 2004. Organizers all over the country were immediately interested. Developed in a lot of spare time over the years, first breaking country and than language barriers, T³ has risen to be a unique platform for tournament and tabletop gamers in general.

Talking in numbers sounds like this:
* More than 10,000 tournaments mit 150,000(!) participants
* More than 18,000 registered players from over 40 countries
* More than 900 gaming clubs with more than 6000 members
* More than 100 supported tabletops
* Around 40 GB monthly traffic created by more than 25,000 website visitors
* Quite a lot of support requests

Although the growth has slowed down for the last 2-3 years this is a huge bunch of work to do and therefore we have to make a massive change. We worked hard on possible concepts with the help of the users' and community's feedback and this is the final decision:

Starting on 16th May 2013 a tournament with more than 18 players cannot be managed anymore on T³ free of charge. Anybody who would like to manage a tournament with more players easily online, is required to own a PremiumAccount from that date on. This service will cost 30 € / 40 Fr. / 125 zł and last for one year. It's not recurring, so no need for cumbersome cancellations. During the year you'll be able to create as many tournaments of any size as you wish. Tournaments without online administration stay at no costs. It's needless to say that existing tournaments will not be touched in any way.

We know that this step won't make everybody happy, but we think it's inevitable and we're certain that it can work out. If we're able to set up a stable financing, this would give us the possibility to work on all those current issues and unused ideas we've collected over the years. The code base is ancient and has reached its limits. The design is not really state-of-the-art and waaay from modern standards and possibilities. The usability needs a cleanup all over the page and cool ideas for usefull improvements could finally be realized.

As soon as the final work and tests are done and the translations are online, we'll fire up the PremiumAccounts. They will be required starting on the 16th.

With your understanding and your support we can bring T³ to the next level.

New tabletops: Dust Tactics and By Fire and Sword

We extended our tabletop support:

The first new entry is Dust Tactics by Fantasy Flight Games. Being the "younger brother" of Dust Warfare it's taking place in the same universe using the same miniatures, but using simpler set of rules.

The second newcomer is By Fire and Sword. It's widely spreaded in Poland and the heads behind the game just went to the Salute with an English version of the game rules. They're now trying to reach the international market with their Kickstarter.

Password security - part 2 - Update

We started to force users to update their password. Who hasn't updated his password yet, will be automatically redirected to the according form. If someone encounters any issue with this, we can be through the imprint.

At the end of the month we'll deactivate all accounts without a proper password. At this moment you can only recover your account by sending a new password to the enlisted mail address. Users not able to access those should contact an admin.

Update: Sorry for the inconvenience, but I made a mistake and all password changes for the last 2 hours didn't work out. This is fixed now.

Password security

There've been more and more reports about cracked websites and databases in the last months. We used the upcoming security awareness to update our security systems. It's needless to say that the current passwords are only stored encrypted in our database. Therefore we cannot update those.

We ask every user, who created his or her account before February 28th, 2013, to set a new password. To do this go to "Account" or "Your page" in the navigation and choose "Change password". The new password will then be stored with security standards being up to date.

Starting on April 1st we'll enforce all users to change their password. A login with the old one won't be possible anymore. Users who forgot their password can request a reset using the according feature.

The ususal notice: Please use a unique password for T³ and don't use it on any other website.

USAEnd of Month 40K - October 40K Scenarios

Neverland Games October Tournament Scenario 1:

Shiny Bitz

Mission:
Score as many supply points as possible during the course of the battle.

Objective:
This mission is a variant of the Pillage scenario on pg 10 of Battle Missions. One objective marker is placed in the center of each table quarter before determining which player has the first turn. At the end of each of your opponent's player turns, you gain one point for every objective you control. To control an objective, you must have at least one of your scoring units and no enemy units (scoring or not) within 3 inches of the objective. Units that are fleeing, pinned, or have gone to ground are not counted in this total.

Deployment:
Spearhead (pg 93 of main rulebook)

Length of game:
Five turns or until time is called, so that each player completes the same number of turns.

Special Rules:
Seize the Initiative (pg 92)
Reserves (pg 94)
Outflank (pg 94)
Deep Strike (pg 95)
Infiltrate (pg 75)

Massacre: If a player has 10 more supply points than their opponent or the opponent has been wiped out (pg 90).
Major Victory: If a player has 5 more supply points than their opponent.
Minor Victory: If a player has more supply points than their opponent.
Draw: If both players have the same supply points.

Battle point modifiers:
+1 if you scored three or more supply points in one player turn.
+1 if you collected 5 supply points from the objective in your deployment zone.
+1 if the opponent has no units in your deployment zone at the end of your final player turn.

Neverland Games October Tournament Scenario 2:

Friendly Fire

Mission:
Score more kill points than your enemy.

Objective:
This mission uses the Annihilation rules on pg 91 of the main rulebook in addition to a variant of the Stray Rounds rule from pg 42 of Battle Missions. As this battle represents a portion of an epic battle, stray rounds from the greater war effort of both sides are striking the field to devastating effect. Each player receives two Stray Round markers (1/2” square of thin paper). During each of your shooting phases, drop each of your Stray Round markers from about 36” above the table so that it flutters down to a point on the battlefield. Place a large blast template over the Stray Round marker and inflict hits on any covered unit (friend or foe, even if locked in combat) with the following profile: S8, AP3, Large Blast, Ordnance Barrage.

Deployment:
Pitched Battle (pg 92 of main rulebook)

Length of game:
Five turns or until time is called, so that each player completes the same number of turns.

Special Rules:
Seize the Initiative (pg 92)
Reserves (pg 94)
Outflank (pg 94)
Deep Strike (pg 95)
Infiltrate (pg 75)
Stray Rounds (see above)

Massacre: If a player has 10 more kill points than their opponent or the opponent has been wiped out (pg 90).
Major Victory: If a player has 7 more kill points than their opponent.
Minor Victory: If a player has more kill points than their opponent.
Draw: If both players have the same kill points.

Battle point modifiers:
+1 if none of your Stray Round markers killed friendly models.
+1 if you scored a kill point with a Stray Round Marker.
+1 more than one of your units are in the enemy's deployment zone at the end of the game.

Neverland Games October Tournament Scenario 3:

Duel at Dawn

Mission:
Kill your opponent's hero with your own or score the most victory points with your hero.

Objective:
This mission is a slight variant of Clash of Heroes from pg 95 of Battle Missions. Declare one model from your HQ choices to be your army's Hero before deployment is rolled for. Your hero may not be killed by anything but an attack from your opponent's Hero. If your Hero is slain by any other method, they are left standing with one wound remaining. Keep track of the points value of any models slain by your Hero during the game. Models that are part of a unit are considered to have a points value equal to the total value of the unit divided by the number of models in it. Models that are forced to flee by the Hero that left the battlefield or failed to regroup before the end of the battle count towards the victory points total.

Deployment:
Divide the table into four quarters. The player who is determined to go first by the roll-off chooses a table quarter and deploys their forces inside their quarter and more than 9” from the center of the table. Their opponent then does the same in the opposite table quarter.

Length of game:
Five turns or until time is called, so that each player completes the same number of turns. The game ends immediately if one player's Hero slays their opponent's Hero.

Special Rules:
Seize the Initiative (pg 92)
Reserves (pg 94)
Outflank (pg 94)
Deep Strike (pg 95)
Infiltrate (pg 75)
Night Fighting on Turn 1 (pg 95)

Massacre: If a player's Hero scores 150 more Victory Points and kills the opposing Hero; or the opponent has been wiped out (pg 90).
Major Victory: If a player's Hero has the most Victory Points and kills the opposing Hero.
Minor Victory: If a player's Hero has the least Victory Points and kills the opposing Hero.
Draw: If both players' Heroes survive the battle.

Battle point modifiers:
+3 if you hero has taken zero unsaved wounds during the battle.
+1 if you slay the enemy's Hero with a unit other than your Hero and force them to come back with one wound.
+1 if your enemy's Hero ends the game in their own deployment zone.
