German Tabletop Championships - 40K - Information and Rules

Format
Our Tournament will be played following the ITC Format which uses the Matched Play recommendations from the Warhammer 40,000 8th Edition ruleset. The details for this format can be located in the Warhammer 40,000 main rulebook.
The games will be played at 2,000 points with a 3 hour game time. If players wish to use Chess Clocks, the ITC Chess Clock rules will be used.
Army Composition Guidelines
Per the matched play rules, armies must be battle-forged and you cannot create an army list containing more than a total of three of the detachments listed in the main rulebook on Pg.242-245.
All current Games Workshop & Forgeworld 8th edition Warhammer 40,000 source material may be used to build your Battle-forged army. The most recent version of Chapter Approved is in effect for ITC standard events.

Faction Scoring
ITC faction rankings will be adjusted to fall in line with the faction categorization system outlined in Warhammer 40,000 8th Edition. This chart shows the faction scoring for the ITC.
Your ITC faction is determined as follows: find the most specific Faction Keyword (which is typically the last Faction Keyword listed on each unit's’ datasheet) shared by every model in your army. Consult column B in the chart above. Your ITC faction is the corresponding ITC Faction Keyword in column C. There are some exceptions to this rule as described below.
o Units specifically exempted from changing your faction are not counted when determining your ITC Faction. Example: Fabius Bile in a Chaos Space Marines Detachement.
o Summoned units (including Assassins summoned via their stratagem) are not counted when determining your ITC faction.
o Fortifications are not counted when determining your ITC faction.
o Genestealer Cults may take a Brood Brothers detachment and still count as a “Pure” GSC army for our purposes.
o Your army will count for the Ynnari faction for our purposes if every detachment in your army is a Ynnari detachment under the restrictions outlined in the Ynnari rules.
o Adeptus Mechanicus may take one Imperial Knight in one Super Heavy Auxiliary detachment and retain their faction for ITC purposes.
o Note: this is a compromise decided among the ITC T.O.s to avoid situations where a player has an all or nearly all Knight army but then claims to be competing under the Adeptus Mechanicus ITC Faction which goes against the spirit of this new rule.
o Your army will count for a god specific Chaos faction if every detachment in your army is unified by the same god specific faction keyword.

FAQ
Reference the Games Workshop Designer’s Commentary document found here. Additional FAQ documentation by Games Workshop will be added to this section of the document as it is released.
Games Workshop’s Index and basic rulebook FAQ’s can be found at the link below. Please read through these and become familiar with them. Players downloading and saving/printing PDF’s for reference during tournaments is strongly recommended.
Games Workshop’s FAQs
In addition, the ITC has implemented the following FAQ item:
• All current beta rules are in effect as outlined on the Warhammer-community page.

ITC Missions & Terrain Rules
The Missions will be played according tot he current ITC Standard Mission Pack. Before each game the current mission will be randomly selected, although no mission will be played more than once.

Scoring:
The victory points earned by players through primary and secondary missions are transferred into a percentage matrix to determine the tournament points.
e.g.: Player one Scores 30 victory points throughout the game, player two scores 20 victory points.
Tournament points are now determined as followed:
Player one [30/(30+20)]*100 = 600 tournament points
Player two [20/(30+20)]*100 = 400 tournament points
In total there can be 1000 tournament points achieved.
The tournament points a player can earn in a single game are capped at 800 points (80%). Therefore a game outcome can be at max 800:200.

Terrain:
The Advanced Battlefield Terrain Rules listed on Pg.248-251 in the main rulebook will not take effect.
Ruins: For this event, the bottom level walls of all ruins are considered to block LoS even if they do not actually do so. This means existing openings in them such as those created by windows, doors, bullet holes, etc. block LoS. This rule does not mean the players create walls where none existed. If in doubt as to where to define these barriers, clarify with your opponent before the game begins.
In addition, following rules apply:
A model can only be placed where it can stand by itself. The model may not be clamped to terrain features or other models nor leaned to either.
Vehicles with the FLY-keyword can only be placed in building levels if the whole base can be placed there. No part of the base may jut out over the level. In case of models that have distances measured to and from their hull, the whole hull has to fit on the building level.

Administration, Hobby & Prize-Support Policies
Modeling and Painting
In order for a player to be eligible for any prize supports all models in their army must be painted to a 3 color minimum and based. Primer counts as a color. Clear bases such as those found on skimmer models do not have to be painted and/or based in order to count as finished. Basing can consist of a simple texture such as flock, or painted a solid color such as black, or consistently based on a material such as clear acrylic. If in doubt, email your TO for approval, but consistency and a finished look are what we look for.
All models are expected to be WYSIWYG to a reasonable standard. Exceptions will be made for themed units or armies.
• When using detachments in your army that contain models with different <Bracket> Faction Keywords, then they must be easily distinguished from other, similar faction models.
o Example: Your army has a detachment of White Scars Adeptus Astartes and a detachment of Ultramarines Adeptus Astartes. The models in these different detachments must be easily identified by your opponent. An example of this would be painting the White Scars white and the Ultramarines blue so your opponent can easily identify which units belong to which detachment. It is not acceptable to have an army with multiple detachments of Space Marines painted in the same scheme wherein some of them are using different <bracket> faction keywords.
o All models meant to represent a certain faction, for example, <Iron Hands> (or whatever faction) must be painted in a coherent fashion. This means that visually, your opponent must be able to identify which models are <Iron Hands> (or whatever faction).
o Sensible exceptions will be made to this rule, for example, if you painted your Space marines Librarian the traditional blue in your <Iron Hands> army, this is fine. What expressly is not allowed is to have multiple different and conflicting paint and basing schemes and to play them all as the same faction.
• Using a proxy for a model violates our policy.
• Using a reasonable substitute to “Counts As” another model, does not violate our policy.
• We recommend all models be based according to the this Basing Chart for standardization and fairness.
• If in doubt, send a picture in of a model to us in advance to ask if it is acceptable.

Sportsmanship
Sportsmanship is handled with a Thumbs Up, Thumbs Down format. We default games to a Thumbs Up from both players. We use the ITC Code of Conduct, which you may read here.
If your opponent was acting in an unsportsmanlike manner, which we define as being verbally abusive, physically aggressive, was more than 15 minutes late for a round, or knowingly cheated on a rule, you are free to give him or her a Thumbs Down on sports. This rule does not exist to express displeasure in a game because you didn’t like your opponent, your opponent’s army, or you had rules debates, etc.
A player that receives two or more Thumbs Down on Sportsmanship may be met with administrative action up to and including ejection from the event with no refund of the ticket cost.
