Army List Submission Deadline
Deadline: Friday, October 31, 2025 at 20:00 CET
Send your army list via email to watschenfest@gmail.com before the deadline. The lists will be then checked and once every list is legal, they will be posted ahead of the tournament.
Rules Freeze: No updates (including new Arcane Journals, FAQs or Community FAQ) released after this deadline will be used during the event.
Furthermore, every army list must contain the following:
• Clear listing of individual selections and the unit sizes
• Clear mention of selected Equipment, Command Groups and of Magic Items
• Clear identification of the General and Battle Standard Bearer
• Indication of the Lore of Magic used by each Magician
• Are you playing as a Casual or Competitive Player (see "Pairing" for more information)?
Up to the deadline, the Army Composition can be subject to changes, if necessary.
Army Composition Rules
• Maximum of 2,000 points
• No unit or character may cost more than 25% of your total army (hence no more than 500 points)
• Any unspent points are awarded to your opponent as bonus Victory Points
• No Allied Contingents; Mercenaries are allowed
• A maximum of 0–2 Level 3 Wizards and/or 0–1 Level 4 Wizard
• Named characters are allowed and count against all restrictions above
0-X Selection Limits
• Characters: 0–3
• Core Units: 0–4
• Special Units: 0–3
• Rare & Mercenary Units: 0–2
• These limits override any broader allowances in Army Books or Journals
• If a unit appears in multiple categories, the stricter limit applies
• Variants of the same unit (e.g., Chosen Lord / Exalted Champion) count as the same entry
• Mounts count toward unit entry limits if they are available as a separate unit (and are not part of a unit profile e.g. Pegasi for Pegasus Knights)
Victory Points & Tournament Scoring
Once the battle has ended, use Victory Points to determine which player is the winner, as described on page 19 of the Matched Play Guide.
Each Player can score between 0 and 5 tournament Points per game:
• Win: +4 Tournament Points (VP difference > 300)
• Draw: +2 Tournament Points (VP difference ≤ 300)
• Loss: 0 Tournament Points (Opponent outscores you by > 300 VPs)
• “Heavy casualties” Bonus: +1 Tournament Point if you scored more than 1000 VPs
• “So Close!” Bonus: +1 Tournament Point if you lost but not by more than 500 VPs
Pairing
To guarantee a fun experience for both seasoned tournament players as well as casual players we ask players to identify themselves as either a Competitive Player or a Casual Player. For (at least) the first round of pairing we will try our best and pair within those groups. For the second and third game we will try as well if possible.
So basically everyone can bring either hard, medium or fluffy lists but can still enjoy well-paced games and – combined with a scoring system that keeps the field closer together – win the tournament, even as a casual player. The TOs reserve the right to make adjustments if a player misplaces himself into a wrong group.
Scenario Overview
• Game 1: Upon the Field of Glory / Baggage Trains + Special Feature
• Game 2: Close Quarters / Domination + Strategic Locations (2)
• Game 3: Drawn Battlelines / Baggage Trains + Strategic Locations (3)
Awards
Best General
The Best General will be determined by Tournament Points. Whoever gets the most TP shall be called ‘Best General’. If two players are tied on TP whoever has the best Victory Points difference wins the award.
Best Overall Player
The Best Overall Player will be determined by an equal mix of Tournament Points, Painting Points and Karma Points.
Painting Points: To be considered for Painting Points you have to have a fully painted army. Usually this means you have to have three different colors on each model and have to have some sort of finished basing. The army will then be judged by the TOs on a scale from 1-5.
Karma Points: At the end of each game your opponent will (secretly) rate how fun it was to play against you as a player (not your army list!) on a scale from 1-5. Were you forgiving, when the opponent forgot a Special Rule? Were you a rules-lawyer? Those things will impact your Karma Score and might cost you the title.
Best Painted
Between Game 1 and Game 2 the TOs will have a selection of players present their fully painted armies for every player to admire. The players can then cast their vote for one of these armies to win ‘Best Painted’.
Fluffiest List
Whoever brings the fluffiest list shall be rewarded aswell. This decision will solely be up to the TOs.
And please don’t forget the most important thing: HAVE FUN while playing amazing games with new people! We are looking forward to seeing you all.
